Self-harm is a person's act of harming or injuring himself, causing him pain.
Whatever the way of harming is a person will hurt himself and no doubt it will be serious and may cause permanent disability. You may be are experiencing difficult times and having pressures and sad situations but be confident that a person when harming himself, it is just a way of escaping pain each problem has a solution, but you have to sit with yourself and study the reasons that make you think about it. Be confident that when a person thinks of hurting himself, it is a way of escaping the pressure or to attract the attention of others. Try to abandon all these negative thoughts and think of yourself and the skills and qualifications that you have. Identify your weaknesses to start working on strengthening them by the helping and support of others, especially your close friends whom you trust. Avoid sitting alone, so that you do not have the time to, so that to be able of controlling the negative thoughts. Do some activities and exercises that help you change the daily routine such as sports, hobbies, relaxation exercises. Hang out with friends, as they have the ability to adjust your mood.
As for your inquiry about depression. Depression is a state of extreme sadness or a mix of feelings of sadness, loneliness and feelings of being rejected from others. A sense of helplessness, inability to cope with life problems and escaping them. Also, not accepting the others' feelings. Its
symptoms are depressed mood or sad, lack or increase of appetite, insomnia, tension, inability to relax or the desire of talking to others, laziness, suicidal thoughts, guilt, inability to concentrate and isolation.
