Dear Customer,

Thanks for joining and trusting us, much appreciated!

Avoidant Personality disorder is one of the most prominent personality disorders. The person shows a repetitive pattern of feelings of incompetence, hypersensitivity to negative evaluation, and avoidance of professional activities involving contact between two people because of fear of criticism, disapproval and rejection by others.

The affected person of this disorder feel that he is not wanting to integrate and engage with other people except with those whom he loves, and he appears to be restraint in the framework of new relations because of the fear of shame and criticism.

He is always preoccupied with being exposed to criticism and rejection in different social situations. He is self-centered and self-esteem and sees himself as incompetent, inferior to others, unattractive and fearful of any new activity or relationship as it may be embarrassing since he is characterized of social phobia, as well as suffering from inferiority.

Treatment

Keep away from "avoidance

Identify situations you tend to avoid, ask whether you are uncomfortable in all social situations, or do you avoid some situations more than others? Create a list of all situations where you want to feel more comfortable, for example, you may want to talk in class more or feel less stress when talking to your co-workers. Put yourself in social situations gradually, look for easy ways to get yourself out of your comfort zone, and begin small interactions with others. It is best to keep a notebook to record your interactions and how you felt at that time, always keep your goals in mind, and be confident of your ability to change.

Changing Thinking Style:

When you are worried or tensed about a situation, examine the ideas that correspond to that feeling so that you can act. For example, you may be used to telling yourself things like "No one loves me, no need to make friends"! Change these thoughts and you will see positive results.

Getting support:

Before starting treatment, visit a psychiatrist to fully diagnose your condition because this type of disorder may occur with other disorders such as depression and Borderline personality disorder, and ask your doctor about the medication that helps you feel less anxious and fearful when you start psychotherapy.
