We would like to inform youthat The child's delay in speech is a state of anxiety and tension for the mother and father who believe that their child may have a disorder that prevents him from starting to speak according to his age and the reason for this phenomenon to several things, some of which call for anxiety and conduct medical and laboratory tests and some of them are natural and there is no justification for concern about it and it is worth mentioning that each child is a special case and may not be compared to other children even if they are brothers or relatives Note that female children in general speak faster than males and the child is late to speak if he finishes the second year of age and did not utter any word, it is common in children to speak the second year of age and they are able to say a sentence of several words, even if not understood for parents But they are supposed to start speaking and repeating the words they hear and follow the voices and imitating them. Some children can begin to speak at the age of two and a half years, but if they have completed their third year and did not start talking yet here must find the imbalance and treatment.
Causes of delayed speech in children:
- Hearing loss, whether congenital or as a result of repeated ear infections.
- Pathological syndromes such as Down syndrome where the mental capacity of the child is limited
- Autism as a result of social reasons such as ignoring the child for long periods or in gatherings as a result of the child's shame and fear or the presence of a foreign nanny for the child.
- If the child has some learning difficulties.

Treatment of delayed speech in children:
Watch for any signs of a significant delay in your child's speech and talk to your doctor when you experience any problems. Delayed speech can occur for many reasons, but the earlier you find out, the better it is, especially before school age and after your doctor's consultation. There are some things you can do to help your child. Such as:
- A hearing test where hearing loss or impairment can cause delayed speech and should be conducted at the age of three months.
- Presenting the child to a speech therapist Speech therapists can treat many disorders that lead to speech delay, including voice problems.
- Behavioral and developmental examination of the child to detect other disorders such as the spectrum of autism or cognitive impairment.

- Do not force the child to talk against his will.

- Correct the pronunciation errors in the child so as not to get used to them.
- Not to ridicule the child or the way it is spoken.
- Avoid leaving the child for long periods in front of cartoons, because the long sentences are difficult for the child to memorize and repeat.
