Kindly, be aware that the most people who can determine the cause of the sadness that you feel is ONLY yourself, as you have to identify it clearly, which requires to revise yourself and think deeply about what you are going through and those around you and your relationship with them. Therefore, you have to determine the reason behind your sadness state. Knowing that, if you are able to get  the cause, it will help you in treatment process.
Causes of sadness
Not getting rest, and then the body remains in a state of fatigue, which may bring you states of sadness.
Negative thoughts which control the mind.
Exposing to stressful situations.
Frustration.
Feeling depression, but with more symptoms.
Feeling work pressure.
Failed in emotional or love relationship.
Disagreement with friends or someone close to you.
Health problems.
Family differences.
Getting rid of sadness requires you to have strength and confidence in yourself. You have to boost your self-confidence and enrich your positive capacities. You will be able to realize the nature of the situations that you are exposed to and understand them well, because your correct understanding of such things is what helps you get rid of states of sadness. Knowing that, if you surrender to feelings of sadness, you will be depressed, especially persistent sadness, and the more you remember, the more you will be able to help yourself.
You also have to change your daily routine, such as practicing unusual activities, do things that give you happiness and comfort. Also, try to talk to someone you feel comfortable with.
Eat food you love, take care of your outfit, be always interested in what you wear and dress, and plus you have to ignore the past, set for yourself new goals, be with optimistic people, reconcile with yourself, and accept who you are, contentment and self-acceptance of things around us make us stronger. Finally, try out to be closer to Allah, so that He Almighty helps you in your recovery.

Tiresome and exhaustion that control you are results of sadness state and it could be depression after that 
So, you have to get through that and help yourself 
Change your routine and daily activities. Practice sports, so that you make your mood better. 
Take care of yourself and read, as reading can ease on you and embrace your character, by this you will improve your psychological state and busy your mind with what's useful and puts you away from sadness and depression

It is not important to count the number of years you were sad, but focus on starting to get rid of this sadness.
