? What is hepatic  steatosis 

Hepatic steatosis is one of the most common diseases of the liver , and by definition  it results from deposition of triglycerides in the hepatocyte leading to a wide spectrum of manifestations from just fat accumulation in hepatocytes without concomitant inflammation or fibrosis (simple hepatic steatosis) to hepatic steatosis with a necroinflammatory component (steatohepatitis) that may or may not have associated fibrosis . There are multiple factors  lead to this condition like diabetes mellitus type 2 ,obesity ,and other diseases we will mention them  later , for the treatment ,we advice to visit the  internist ,as he will decide the appropriate management plan ,which will include weight reduction and management of type 2 diabetes with oral anti hyperglycemic agent like metformin and management of hypertriglyceridemia with fibrate drugs like fenofibrate ,also we advice to drink plenty of water and eat a lot of vegetables and fruit and do daily exercise and avoid fast food and fat rich food 

 ? What are the required investigations 

After taking good history and perform physical exam ,we  do cbc to look for anemia or sign of infections , also liver function test aslt,alt,alp to look for sign of liver inflammation or fibrosis , also measure serum bilirubin to look for jaundice ,measure serum pt,ptt,inr to look for bleeding tendency , also do abdomen ultrasound to look for signs of liver cirrhosis ,also measure serum triglyceride and total cholesterol ,measure serum fasting and random blood sugar .

• Diabetes type two

• Severe wight loss
• Total parenteral nutrition
• Abetalipoproteinemia
• Drugs like amidarone
• Other causes

What are the manifestations of hepatic steatosis

• Fatigue
• Lethargy
• Jaundice
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Hematemesis
