Salivary stones are preceptation of crystals mainly calcium or oxalate stones inside the ducts of salivary glands that precepitate for duct obstruction that can lead to gland enlargment and can cause pain especially at meal time. Obstruction of gland duct can lead to saliva stasis which can got infected and produce salivary gland abscess which should be drained with appropriate use of antibiotics. Salivary stones can be managed according to the size, shock wave lithotripsy and stone surgical extraction are among the approprate choices of stone extraction after consultation of ENT specialist .
Investigations 
After proper physical exam, you should measure the level of Ca, and PTH hormone to detect calcium imblance, Sialography is the diagnostic modality of choice to visulaize the stone by X RAY with contrast injection, US can be done to detect salivary stones 
Causes 

• Hyper calcemia 
• Recurrent infections 
• Gland duct obestruction
