What are the causes of breast pain?
Breast engorgement
mastitis
Cystic fibrosis
some medications, such as birth control
How is breast pain diagnosed?
Take a medical history
Clinical examination
Do a sonography or x-ray
How is breast pain treated?
For example, treatment is done based on the cause
If the cause is the result of engorgement, it is advised to apply cold water compresses
Take ibuprofen 600 mg twice daily
If the cause is due to mastitis, the treatment is done as follows
Take augmentin 500 mg three times daily
Take a clindamycin 300mg treatment three times daily
