Management of Emphysema 
Emphysema is a pathological condition that affect lung tissue to cause malfunctioning and improper oxygen transport to the blood stream due to the anatomical disturbance that is manifisted as multiple cystic formation and lung sequestration, the management is according to the segement of the lung involved, in cases of congenital emphyseam where most of the lung parynchyma are involved the cure is through lung transplantation, in cases of acquired emphysema where the segment involved is less than the normal segment, resection of the involved segment would be appropriate which can be done by thoracoscopic or open surgery, consult a thoracic surgeon for further evaluation, in some cases emphysematous pullae can rupture to cause spontaneous pneumothorax which should be drained using chest tube till resolution of air collection.
Investigations 
After proper physical exam, chest CT scan should be done to evaluate for the extent of lung involvement, cases of congenital emphysema will have defect in Alpha 1 anti trypsin gene
Symptomes of Emphysema 

• Dyspnea 
• Cough 
• Chest pain
