Disulfiram to treat Alcoholism
Disulfiram is an agent that frequenctly used to treat Alcohol addiction by creating an unpleasant reaction when drinking, its in the form of tablet not injection, it should be accompanied with a strict withdrawal support program in consultation of a psychologist, its given in a dose of 500 mg tab once daily for 2 weeks and then maintained on a dose of 250 mg tab once daily till abstinance acheived.
Warnings
Its contraindicated to take alcohol containing medications when using disulfiram, also its contraindicated in cases of coronary artery disease and psychosis
