What is the treatment for typr 2 DM ?
First of all, it's advised to do a lifestyle modifications including eating healthy and do some exercise. Regarding the treatment, initially the patients are advised to start on METFORMIN and then after 3 months if Hgb A1C is more than 7% we can add another medication such as sitagliptin or any other. However, if at the diagnosis you Hgb A1C was more than 9% you would have to start insulin injections.
What I am trying to say is that the treatment depends on your condition as well as your blood glucose level at time of diagnosis.
Diagnosis of DM type 2 ?
Presence of signs and symptoms of DM with Random blood glucose more than 200 mg/dl. OR TOW readings of Fasting blood glucose of more than 125mg/dl. Hgb A1C more than 6.5%
Signs and symptoms of DM ?
1. Increase urine frequency
2. Feeling of hungry
3. Feeling of thirsty
4. Wieght loss
