Heel pain treatment:

  • The treatment depends on the cause that led to the occurrence of pain, as there are many causes that can cause pain in the heel, and therefore the orthopedic doctor must be consulted for an evaluation of the condition, and in the event that the pain has not been preceded by a fall from a height or a strong blow to the heel, the probability of fracture is weak. The strongest probability is the calcaneus spur, which is a bony protrusion on the underside of the heel bone as a result of excess calcium deposition and is considered one of the common diseases of the foot, and it causes severe pain in the foot and this pain often occurs as a result of plantar fasciitis, and to reduce pain it is advised to avoid walking and standing for long periods, get rid From excess weight, drink enough water daily 2-3 liters, avoid walking without shoes, especially on hard surfaces, and using shoes that support the heel arch and relax the foot, and treatment is done either conservatively or by using injections or surgery, and in the case of conservative treatment most patients respond Within six months of treatment such as  taking a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as Naproxen or Cataflam twice a day, and a topical spray such as Swiss Relief three times a day and physical treatment to extend the ligaments  and Achilles tendon , and the use of ice packs on the bottom of the foot, if the painremains we recommend use of Depo-medrol injections or PRP injections  ,  also shock wave therapy can then be used that increases blood flow in the heel area and reduces inflammation.

Diagnosis:

  • The diagnosis is made based on the symptoms, medical history, and clinical examination of the patient to determine the sites of pain and make an x-ray image to show the bony spur.

Symptoms that indicate the presence of a plantar fasciitis:

  • Pain in the sole of the foot and in the center of the heel bone
  •  severe pain in the morning upon waking up from sleep, which gradually subsides with the day
  • Pain without a fall or a blow
  • Pain when standing for a long time
  • Swelling in the area

Factors that increase the occurrence of it:

  • Overweight and obesity
  • Lack of drinking water
  •  gout
  • Flat feet
  • the inward direction of the feet
  •  Long-distance running, jumping
  • Standing for long periods on hard surfaces
  • High heel shoes

Our advice:

  • Follow the treatment advice above and consult an orthopedic doctor to do the necessary examinations
