I aborted 5weeks back but my test still shows positive yet I bleeded for 3weeks and now still spotting. Was the abortion successful or need to repeat it again

pregnancy test positive after abortion and bleeding
Generally, pregnancy test may still positive for one week post abortion thus period of five weeks is considered long and abnormal. Also, bleeding after three weeks of abortion is also abnormal thus I see to return to your gynecologist doctor for evaluation and US to be sure that your abortion is complete and there is no remenants inside the uterus that be the cause of positive pregnancy test and bleeding. If there is remenants D&C or abortive drugs may needed.
Investigations to do
US for uterus to exclude remenants of pregnancy and for ovaries to exclude other causes like non diagnosed ectopic pregnancy. Beta hcg level also
Causes
There are many causes like
- Incomplete abortion
- Vesicular mole or molar pregnancy
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Hormonal imbalances
- Others
