I had HCV more than 15 years ago and was cured...
I had HCV more than 15 years ago and was cured since then I do every year a PCR test and it is undetectable. Went to a new doctor and he did antibodies test and said u have antibodies which means I have HCV. Told him antibodies will always be there as I was infected before and you should do PCR test instead. My liver enzymes are normal and all blood test are perfect. Need your advice, does antibodies remain in the body after you are cured from HCV?

If the antibody test positive that means you have been infected with HCV , in this situation you need additional test which is PCR test to detect the HCV RNA , if the PCR negative that means you were infected with HCV and the virus no longer in your body because you were cured it , and if the PCR test positive that means you know have the virus in your blood and you need treatmet
Treatment :
you should to avoid alcohol and medication that toxic to the liver , and you can use antiviral medication , in the last stage liver transplantation may added to treatmet , this treatment if the PCR still positive
Symptoms :
- nausea
- vomiting
- abdomial pain
- fever in acute stage
- cirrhosis
- ascitis
- portal hypertention
Adsvice :
you should go to the hepatologist to get proper managment
