Hepatitis B treatment:
- The hepatitis B virus causes inflammation and serious infection in the liver that can lead to liver damage, cirrhosis, and loss of function. The treatment of hepatitis B depends on the degree of inflammation, i.e. whether it is chronic, i.e. more than six months or acute, and the general health status of the patient. In acute cases, some advice is followed, such as taking a rest, drinking fluids intensively, eating a healthy diet, and following up on your condition. In the event of any severe symptoms, you will be admitted to the hospital. In chronic cases, antiviral drugs are used such as Interferon Alpha, Tenofovir, Telbivudine to help slow down the destruction of the liver, and the last options in treatment are liver resection and transplantation of a healthy liver from another donor
How is hepatitis B diagnosed:
- Diagnosis is made by taking the medical history, a clinical examination and then running some tests to detect the virus in the blood such as Hepatitis B surface Antigen, where if it is positive, then there is currently an active infection as a result of hepatitis B, but if it is negative, there is no Active infection of the virus, Hepatits B Core Antibody, which if it is positive from the IgM type, then this means that there is an acute active infection from the hepatitis B virus, but if it is positive from the IgG type, then this means that there is a chronic infection from the virus or it has been Recovery from it, and if the test is negative, it means that an infection has occurred in the distant past or as a result of vaccination, Antigen E of Hepatitis B, which in the event that it is positive, means that there is a large amount of B virus in the body, which increases the possibility of infection of others, Antibodies to Hepatitis B surface Antigen if it is positive, it means that the vaccination has been done against the B virus, or after recovery from the virus, or the infection is chronic, but if it is negative, it means that the virus has not been exposed or was not responded to properly by the immune system and DNA levels of Hepatits B appear, this indicates the presence of an active infection with the B virus
Symptoms of acute hepatitis B infection:
- Nausea
- vomiting
- fever
- poor appetite
- abdominal pain
- General weakness
- jaundice
- muscle pain
- Joint pain
- dark color in urine
Our advice:
- Consult a doctor to make an assessment of your condition, and to put the appropriate treatment plan to asses your condition
