Syphilis treatment:

• Syphilis is a disease that results from a bacterial infection transmitted through sexual contact, especially contact with sores caused by the disease in the infected person. It is important that it be diagnosed in its early stages in order to be controlled,  the treatment is the use of antibiotics, especially penicillin, which is used under the supervision of a doctor to assess the patient’s condition at the beginning and at what stage of the disease, as in the first and second stages one injection of penicillin can be sufficient to eliminate it, however, for the latent cases and the third stage, three doses of penicillin are used (every week a dose), and periodic examinations must be done to follow up the response to treatment, because it may reappear even after receiving treatment.

How is the diagnosis made?

• The diagnosis is made by taking the medical history, what are the symptoms that appear on the patient, and a clinical examination for him, and then running some tests such as the VDRL, and the detection of antibodies secreted by the body against the bacteria that cause infection

Symptoms:

• sores on the genitals or mouth
• rash
• spots on the skin
• muscle pain
• swollen lymph nodes
• Sore throat
