Treatment of passing blood in stool:

It depends on the cause, and till the right diagnosis you have to start with diet and lifestyle changes as increasing your fiber intake, drinking good amount of water daily, doing regular exercise daily, and you can use fiber supplements as calcium polycarbophil and stimulants including bisacodyl, and you can use glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories to treat hemorrhoid and anal fissure, and you may need to take omeprazole 20 mg twice daily to treat gastritis, or azithromycin 500 mg once daily to treat bacterial infection, and you may need surgery to treat hemorroids, fissure, cancer...etc 

Diagnosis of the cause of passing blood in stool:

It depends on the clinical examination by a surgeon and investigations as CBC to detect anemia, stool analysis, colonscopy to detect masses, abdomen and pelvis CT scan, liver and renal function tests...etc

Causes of passing blood in stool:

It may be due to:

• Hemorrhoid and anal fissure
• Colon cancer
• Gastroenteritis...etc
