Treatment of pain under left ribs?
Well, first of all we should say that there are many causes that can lead to pain under left rib cage. So the treatment depends on what’s causing it. Therefore, it;s recommended to have a full medical exam by doctor. If it’s related to any type of inflammation, NSAID such as ibuprofen 600mg twice a day will be recommended to reduce pain and inflammation. If there is a suspicious bacterial infection, then you need an antibiotic. If there a kidney stones, then the treatment depends on their size weather they are small which do not need any treatment or large that need medical intervention. In rare cases such as splenic rupture, abscess or infarction, surgery might be the only option to be done.
Diagnosis:
Physical exam as well as history taking by the doctor. Complete blood count to check for the presence of infection. Urine analysis to rule out UTI. Serum amylase and lipase to rule out pancreatitis. CT scan might be done to rule out stones as well as splenic rupture. ECG to exclude any heart problems like arrhythmia or ischemia. GI endoscope can also be done to exclude peptic ulcer
