Treatment of constipation in children ?
First of all, it's recommended to see a paediatrician to assess the child's circumstance. For now, it's recommended to increase the fibers in his diet, and if he/she does not get enough amount of them in diet, fiber supplements such as Metamucil. It's also adviced to encourage your child to dink enough amount of water at least 1 liter per day. If the child can not swallow, suppositories such as Glycerin supp. can be prescribed. In some cases enema can be used or even surgical intervention if there is an intestinal obstruction. Furthermore, gentle massage over your child's abdomen may relax the muscles of the intestine and helps to promote bowel activity.

Diagnosis?
Physical examination and medical history to be done by paediatrician. CBC to check for anemia or infection. Stool and urine analysis. Abdominal X-ray can also be done to rule out obstruction of the intestine.

Causes of constipation in children?
- Ignoring the urge to defecate
- Changes in the child's daily routine
- Changes in the child's diet
- Cow's milk allergy
- Medications such as antidepressants
- Medical problems such as intestinal obstruction
