Typhoid fever treatment
- Typhoid fever is one of the diseases caused by a bacterial infection, called salmonella bacteria, which is transmitted through contaminated food and drink. the treatment should focus on the prevention of dehydration that results from diarrhea and vomiting so its essentail to drink enough fluid daily , and then use some antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for7-10 days, or Azithromycin 500 mg pills a day for five days, and in cases where complications occur, intravenous antibiotics such as Cefotaxim or ceftriaxone should be uses
Diagnosis
- The diagnosis is made based on the symptoms, taking the medical history, travel history, and then the clinical examination, and then running some tests, such as blood culture to find the causative bacteria
Symptoms
Symptoms appear within 1-3 weeks of infection
- Gradual rise in temperature
- general weakness
- strong headache
- muscle pain
- cough
- sweating
- diarrhea
- Skin rash
- flatulence
