Stomach ulcer treatment:
Stomach ulcers are damage to the lining of stomach that exposes it to the acid inside it which is causing pain and a burning feeling. There are different causes that can lead to stomach ulcers such as increased stomach acid secretion or a defect in the production of prostaglandins and mucus that coats and protects the stomach lining. Therefore, it is important to consult a specialist doctor to perform the necessary tests, determine the cause, and make a decision on treatment.
At the present time, it is recommended to follow a healthy diet, avoid spices & greasy food, increase the intake of fiber and boiled foods, avoid stress & anxiety, stop smoking or drinking alcohol, avoid drinking coffee and stay away from the use of non-steroidal pain relievers. One of the medications that can be used is a medicine that suppresses the production of acid in the stomach, such as Pantoprazole 20 mg two tablets daily.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis depends on taking the medical history, and the clinical examination of the patient, and then doing some tests such as a stool examination or a breath test to detect the presence of H.pylori, making an endoscope for the stomach and intestines to detect the size of the ulcer, taking a sample of it and examining it in the laboratory, an x-ray image using barium to detect the presence of reflux in the esophagus.
Possible causes of stomach ulcers:
Recommendation:
It'd recommended to visit the gastroenterologist for further assessment and management.
