- The treatment depends on the type of swelling in the eyelid, as there are two common types that cause similar symptoms, the first of which is the eye stye, which can disappear spontaneously within a week of its appearance without medical intervention, and the other possibility is the chalazion, which needs an antibiotic or cortisone drop, Or a simple surgery to drain the fluid inside it. Currently, we recommend putting warm water compresses on the swelling three times a day without pressure, and using an antibiotic such as amoxicillin 500 mg three times a day for five days with a topical ointment such as erythromycin once a day.
