Hi doc I'm really shy to ask but I need to know how and what medicine I use for bacterial vagina? When I was 37yrs old I had bacterial discharge white but now still. I have a tubal ligation already now I am 44yrs old

- Hi dear customer,its not embarrassing to ask for medical advice in your case as it one of the most common problems that many ladies come across during their lifetime, regarding the symptoms you have mentioned, white discharge is mostly due to fungal infection rather than a bacterial infection, and to treat it it is recommended to follow some tips such as washing the vagina from front to back and not from back to front because this brings germs in the anal area to the vaginal area, and it is also advised to avoid using vaginal douches or Chemical cleaners to clean the vagina because this disrupts the natural bacteria balance in the genital area, and it is recommended to wear cotton underwear to reduce irritation and friction of the vagina, and you can use Monistat ointment on the area for 7 days, with vaginal suppositories of Terconazole 80 mg suppository daily before bed for 7 days.
How is the diagnosis made?
- The diagnosis of fungal vaginal infections depends on taking a medical history, what symptoms you are experiencing, and conducting a clinical examination of the vagina, and then taking a sample of secretions and examining it under a microscope.
Symptoms of fungal infection of the vagina:
