Treatment of vaginal discharge  :

The treatment is being decided according to the cause of your symptoms after doing investigations and medical examination and determining  the cause and the diagnosis and treatment are decided  by the doctor .
In case of fungal infection, the treatment  includes topical and systematic anti fungal drugs containing Fluconazole or Ketoconazole .
In case of bacterial infection, the treatment includes topical and systemic antibiotics.

Diagnosis of vaginal discharge  :

The diagnosis is made by taking full history and clinical examination of the patient and doing investigations including blood investigations like CBC, inflammatory and infection marks ESR and CRP, random and fasting blood glucose level, HbA1C level, urine analysis, urine culture, culture for vaginal discharge, tumor markers and doing pelvic and abdominal ultrasound .

Causes of vaginal discharge :

- bacterial infection

- fungal infection

- pelvic inflammatory disease 

- vaginal inflammation 

- vaginal infection 

- sexually transmitted diseases 

- Diabetes 

- side effects of drugs like OCPs
