Hi my daughter shes almost 4 years , she has seizures the doctor prescribed her medicine called "depakine 200mg" for 100mg dose twice a day.
A misunderstanding from me since 4 months im giving her 500mg twice a day just today i knew im giving her a wrong dose and im worried alot about the side affects and I already did the liver function blood test every thing was fine.
My question is there is side affect for giving high dose and what are the side affects
And is it ok to reduce the dosage from 500 to 100mg suddenly?????

Side effects of dipakin:
- Nausea
- Headache
- Increased bleeding time
- Thrombocytopenia
- Tremor
- Alopecia
- Asthenia
- Infection
- Somnolence
- Amblyopia
- Diarrhea
Can you decrease the dose?
You can not decrease the dose from 500 to 100 suddenly, but you have to decrease it gradually under supervision by your doctor.
Dose of dipakin:
It depends on the patient weight and the problem, and in general the dose for epilepsy is 10-15 mg/kg/day PO initially; increase by 5-10 mg/kg/day at weekly intervals; may increase dose up to 60 mg/kg/day
What i advise you?
You have to visit your doctor for the use of right dose.
