Treatment of menstrual delay :

The treatment is being decided according to the cause of your symptoms after doing investigations and medical examination and determining the cause and then the diagnosis and treatment are decided by the doctor and the most common cause of menstrual delay is pregnancy, so it's must to exclude pregnancy as a first step .
In case of polycystic ovary syndrome, the treatment includes hormonal therapy like combined contraceptive pills .
In case of thyroid disfunction, the treatment includes thyroid hormone replacement therapy .
In addition to the importance of avoiding stress and physical exhaustion .

Diagnosis of menstrual delay :

The diagnosis is made by taking full history, family history and clinical examination of the patient and doing investigations including blood investigations like CBC, inflammatory and infection marks ESR and CRP, pregnancy test in blood and urine, thyroid functions, ovarian functions, estrogen and progesterone and testosterone levels  and doing pelvic and abdominal ultrasound .

Causes of menstrual delay :

- obesity 

- severe weight loss 

- exhaustion 

- Emotional disturbance 

- Stress 

- pregnancy
