Treatment of HIV:

Till now, there is no approved medication to cure HIV, and medication is used to treat symptoms and delay progression of disease.
The main treatment for HIV is antiretroviral therapy, which stops the virus from reproducing and keeping the immune system strong enough to fight off disease and helps keep HIV from progressing to AIDS.
It also helps reduce the risk of transmitting HIV to others.

Diagnosis of HIV:

There are three types of tests available to diagnose HIV

  • nucleic acid tests: an usually tell you if you have HIV infection 10 to 33 days after an exposure.
  • antigen/antibody tests: can usually detect HIV infection 18 to 45 days after an exposure.
  • antibody tests: an take 23 to 90 days to detect HIV infection after an exposure.

No HIV test can detect HIV immediately after infection.

HIV symptoms:

There are 3 stages of HIV infection:
Stage 1: Acute HIV Infection: Within 2 to 4 weeks after infection with HIV,in which symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Rash
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • Night sweats
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Fatigue
  • Swollen lymph nodes

Some people do not have any symptoms at all during this early stage of HIV
Stage 2: Clinical Latency: People in this stage may not feel sick or have any symptoms.
Without treatment, people can stay in this stage for 10 or 15 years..
Stage 3: AIDS: This is the late stage of HIV infection in which Symptoms can include:

  • Rapid weight loss
  • Fever
  • General lymph glands swelling
  • Extreme and unexplained tiredness
  • Diarrhea that lasts for more than a week
  • Ulcers
  • chest infection
  • Memory loss
  • Depression

What i advise you?

You have to do HIV test for reassurance.
